Connecting vending machines to the VendingMetrics telemetry system consists of three simple steps. If you have already received your MetricsBox order, check how easy it is to start using the system.
Below you will find the first three steps with which you can remotely monitor the operation of your machines in VendingMetrics.
MetricsBox installation
MetricsBox is a telemetry modem that allows the vending machine to communicate with the VendingMetrics system. The installation of the device in the vending machine only takes 5 minutes.
SIM card installation
Before installing the device in the machine, make sure that a SIM card is installed.
Unscrew one metal part of the housing, which is screwed onto 4 screws. Then remove it to access the main board.
Remove the board from the housing and insert the SIM card in the designated place marked in blue in the picture below.
Insert the main board back into the case and screw the metal part into place. Done!
How to connect MetricsBox to a machine?
- Attach the included antenna and cable to the MetricsBox device.

Connect the white end of the cable to the main board as shown in the picture above.

Connect the other end of the white cable to the coin acceptor.
Done!
Create your machine
After connecting the device to the machine, the next step is to create the machine in VendingMetrics.
You can add a new vending machine in your account Settings.
Select Create new machine option.
Enter the name of the machine and its type (snack or coffee):
Additionally, you can add detailed information about the machine, the vendor and model, as well as the address (you can also add this information later, in the machine settings).
Once all the details are filled in, click on the Create new machine button.
Done!
Assign MetricsBox to machine
The final step is to map the telemetry device with the vending machine created in VendingMetrics.
To map a vending machine, click the Machines tab, select the machine and go to the Settings section.
In the Connected devices section you will see all the devices connected to the selected vending machine that are integrated with VendingMetrics, as well as the available devices for integration. To connect a vending machine with a device to the system, select the device from the list by checking its IMEI number:
Then, click Connect to integrate the device into the system.
Done!
Start working with VendingMetrics
From this moment every new transaction will be sent by the device to the system. The above described first steps with VendingMetrics will help you with the first installation of the device.
To take full advantage of the telemetry functions, we encourage you to create products and assign them to the corresponding slots in the machine. You will find instructions for the products and their additional settings in this article.
